Gordon​

Newcomb Secondary College has a partnership with Gordon TAFE as part of our unique GROW program that develops students understanding of life beyond Secondary School in a tertiary setting. Newcomb Secondary College was presented with a $50,000 award from the National Australia Bank for this innovative program. Students complete the GROW subject in Year 9 which develops employability skills and begins the process of establishing a resume and building on qualifications and certificates.

In this programme students attend Gordon TAFE every Friday for one term, being involved in a range of activities relating to courses that can be undertaken at the Gordon. This helps students to gain an understanding of how TAFE colleges operate and many have gone on to take a VET course or undertake a school based apprenticeship based on this experience.
